Language Arts Reflection

I have learned, worked on, and created many things this year for Language Arts. Through out the year, I learned how to make conversations better in my writing. Punctuation was very important in conversation. I also learned how to use sentence variety which is how to make sentences better. For example: starting off sentences with words that end with –ing.

I chose my fiction piece for my portfolio because it was one of my best. When I wrote my fiction story this year, I learned a lot of new skills that helped me with some of my other writings. Even though I didn’t finish it, it was one of my best because of its good beginning and middle. For my fiction piece I made the main character have many traits such as skinny fifteen year old and fit twenty year old. I also detailed the setting of the story. For example: I made sure my description of the hospital, made it sound real. When I wrote the scene in apartment and school, I made it sound as realistic as possible.

I used the story map to plan out the rest of my story. The story map was used for putting your story into the order that the story needs to be in.

Anyway, my fiction story wasn’t my only good story. I had written many other stories. I had a persuasive and non-narrative. My persuasive story was about how homework influenced kids and I provided enough research to make the story have proof on how homework influences kids. My non-narrative was about when I got a new dog. They were both very good stories.

This year, I had a lot of fun in Language Arts. In conclusion, Language Arts was my favorite subject and I learned a lot of things that will help me in my later life. I would like to thank my Language Arts teacher, Mrs. Bubalis, for helping me make my writing better and encouraging me to do better.
